Some people carry invisible burdens.
My work explores the psychological weight people carry after surviving harmful systems, emotional survival, trauma, identity conflict, toxic relationships, and environments that reshape the way people see themselves and move through the world.
As a Speaker, Sociologist, and Cultural Storyteller, I create conversations that are emotionally intelligent, thought-provoking, and deeply human.
I am a PhD Sociologist, speaker, creative director, and cultural storyteller whose work sits at the intersection of sociology, emotional survival, storytelling, identity, and human behaviour.
For more than two decades, I have worked across higher education, research, theatre, podcasting, facilitation, and public speaking spaces exploring the ways trauma, resilience, harmful systems, and lived experience shape how people understand themselves and move through the world.
My speaking and storytelling platform, “The Weight We Carry,” was created from a desire to explore the invisible emotional burdens people often carry silently and the difference between surviving and truly healing.
Alongside my academic and speaking work, I am the Founder and Creative Director of The Birmingham Black Box Theatre Group CIC, where I created immersive and socially conscious storytelling experiences exploring identity, emotional survival, resilience, power, and the complexity
of human behaviour.
I also spent five years hosting the podcast “Lette’s Chat,” where I interviewed hundreds of everyday people, creatives, professionals, and public figures in conversations centred on humanity, struggle, healing, storytelling, and lived experience.
My storytelling work and audio theatre series The Burbs later led to a featured appearance on John Carpenter's Suburban Screams, reinforcing my belief in the transformative power of storytelling and emotionally honest conversations.
Topics include:
Trauma and emotional survival
Resilience and identity
Narcissistic dynamics
Generational and historical trauma
Emotional wellbeing
Storytelling and culture
Healing and vulnerability
Human behaviour and social systems
The conversations people avoid often become the burdens they carry alone.
My work is about creating space for those conversations and helping people find language for experiences they once believed they simply had to survive quietly.
